Restoration as industrial project

We are imagining an industrial system specialized in restoring and in transmitting our heritage.
A strategic alternative to the hectic rush of industrial competition for always new, invasive, up- to-date, expensive, “hyper” productions.
For this reason it is necessary to repair what we have produced, identifying its submerged, polluted or malfunctioning value so that it can function again: reset to zero where now we continue to stratify, restore where there is still potential.
Restoration is a technique, a physical action, which reflects a mental need.
A kind of artificial selection, the willingness to leave handiwork without value deteriorate, and maintain instead that which has value.
Practically, it means to have courage to intervene: eliminate on one side, reconstruct on the other.
If the Charter of Krakow 2000 which assigns to each community the responsibility of their architectural heritage, identifying it in relation to the different historical moments and to the various social and cultural contexts, we have a doubt:
But which is the contemporary handiwork? In addition to tangible restoration, the one commonly defined as the field of restoration (architecture, urban, landscape and artistic), perhaps the time has come to think about a broader cultural restoration?
Should this be the case, then there might be a need to restore image or information, the media, the technological paradigm, the consumption processes, the markets…
Basically, everything that has a strategic value to maintain and to develop.
All of this could be the project for an Italian industrial future.
